Arrived safely in Lundy, I’m anchor up with a calm seas and a beautiful view. What an amazing sent off, I don’t really have words but thank you to everyone that made the effort to come and wave to me. It’s amazing to see just how many people care about me and this adventure I’m on. And a memory that I’ll hold onto.
What an adventure it’s already been, it was supposed to be a 40mile passage taking 8-10 hours. It wasn’t. I ran into difficulties about halfway, light headwinds and a dodge engine meant that although I was making good speed it wasn’t in the direction I needed to go. I eventually got to within a few miles of Lundy by about 8pm, but due to the conditions and difficulties with the engine it wasn’t til around 3AM that I actually got to the safe anchorage. I’ll try to upload a video log later today explaining in more detail what when wrong and how I dealt with it.
Thanks so such to everyone for your support. I’m safely at anchor at Lundy island atm and once I’ve rested up, and the high winds predicted for the next few days have passed, I’ll set sail for Padstow where I can get an engineer to look at my engine, get the AIS tracking system up and running and fix up a couple of other small things.
It’s been an intense few days and weeks so I’m taking some time to get the boat and myself ready. It’s an adventure and that means dealing with the unexpected, but I’m out here doing what I love and I even had dolphins greet me as I arrived
